A.D. Blanco is as local as it gets in Athens, GA. The indie rock band was born and raised just fifteen minutes away from the University of Georgia campus, and began playing venues like the Caledonia and 40 Watt in middle school.
Before they were a band, Bennett Evans (lead vocal, guitar) and Aaron White (drums, keys), were best friends and neighbors, and grew into musicians under similar influences. As kids, White asked Evans “What do you think you’ll do when you get older?” Evans’ response: “I don’t think I could do anything but play music.” “Me too,” White replied. Now, their performances are a display of this sentiment and nearly a decade live shows experience under various names.
A.D. Blanco's live show is a spectacle to behold. It's a timeless display of talent, intensity, and passion achieved by few bands in the modern age. As White drives the show from his drum kit, always a smile on his face, Evans stage presence captivates audiences, transporting them back to the age of rockstars through his outfits, vocals, and reckless movements across the stage.
Listening to A.D. Blanco’s recordings, there is a clear comparison to make with bands like The Strokes, Kings of Leon, or Modest Mouse. Their alternative rock style blends 90s garage rock with early 2000s pop rock, while certain selections in their discography, namely Clay’s Pond (2021) and Dotted Lines (2023), show versatility in the band’s sound and draw a closer comparison to softer folk-rock influences like The Backseat Lovers.
A.D. Blanco’s newest E.P., April’s Fool, is their third studio project, and most impactful yet. The group continues to mature with each release, but retains the energy of a young, hungry group ready to capitalize on any opportunity they’re given.
